Exhibition dates: Wednesday 7th November to Saturday 24th November 2007.

Celebrating a century of the Bromoil process, Chris Lim curates an exhibition of International and Australian artists that share a desire for this beautiful form of artistic expression.
Emphasizing mood and atmosphere, this alternative photographic process was a favourite among pictorial photographers. As photo-realism and instant photography become more popular Bromoil prints, and various other time consuming craft oriented photographic processes, faded to almost total obscurity. Fortunately a group known as the Bromoil Circle of Great Britain kept the Bromoil process alive through a consistent program of exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations.
Bromoil, 100 Years On is a collection of works including vintage images from members of the Bromoil Circle such as the founder Sam Weller and past presidents Frank Williams and Trevor Jones. The Melbourne Camera club has been very generous and provided vintage Bromoils by Harold Cazneaux (Spirit of Endurance) and John Eaton (Fog and Smoke).
In comparison to the early 1900’s are recent works by international artist Maija McDougal and australian artists Robert Carew, Wendy Currie, Karena Goldfinch, Bronwyn Hendy and Chris Lim.
Opening: Saturday 10th November 4pm – 6pm
Artist talk: Saturday 17th November 2pm (limited to 20 people)
